5 for Friday
1. So after ‘officially’ opening the bsquared fall calendar last weekend, I have booked 35 shoots! Craziness!! Thank you to all my clients both repeat and new, and to all my clients who have referred a friend or family member, there’s no better compliment. I never imagined bsquared photography would turn into anything close to this. I’m so lucky and I’m so grateful to you all! (and especially to John and my boys who are so supportive and let me do this crazy photography thing!)
Based on the fact that I’ve booked 35 shoots for Sept-Nov, there are not so many spots left. So don’t procrastinate and get shut out. Book your fall date now. Here’s the most updated calendar: http://www.bsquaredphotography.net/?page_id=3635
2. I bought a new chair today for the “office” (my office is a built in desk in my kitchen with the computer and all my bsquared books on it). I spend more hours than I care to count sitting here, so I figure it was time to upgrade my seating. I’m so excited to get it! Can you guess which color I ordered?
3. Been doing lots of design work for my favorite band, The Turn. They have a residency gig at a really cool bar in NYC called Arctica on Sundays for the rest of the summer. With the whole band playing! So if you are looking to get out and RockTheTurn, this would be a great place to do it- easy access right on 3rd Ave.
And some exciting news- I was just asked by the nice people at Arctica to do some promotional card design work for them too ! Thanks, B for getting me that!! So I’ll post that card when it’s all done.
4. Went with the boys and Grandma & Grandpa to see Jack & Patrick’s new horse race at Belmont. It was all exciting up until the last minute when the horse was scratched at the gate by the track vet. Loose shoes or something. So we didn’t get to see Talking Blues race, but at least we had a fun afternoon and I got some nice pictures.
Dosen’t he have a nice, sweet face?
(for you blog followers out there, you may know that Jack & Patrick had another race horse named Wheel Charmer who had a non-existant career, but was a nice horse and unfortunately had to be put down due to a leg injury. So Talking Blues is the newest horse. We are anxiously awaiting getting into that winners circle. Someday.)
The boys won $2 each on the race before so it wasn’t a total loss.
5. I’m so excited to give you a little heads up on some upcoming bsquared ‘stuff’ that’ll be offered starting in August. I’ll be putting up all my 2009 Holiday Card collection templates. So make sure you stop by the blog to see those.
AND…I am thrilled to be working with my friend Judy on her new venture : Ju-jewels. She’ll be offering custom created photo jewelery and accessories. They are beautiful and I’m proud to be sporting mine around town! Here’s a little sneak peek: (the pictures of the jewelry aren’t the best. I think I need to invest in the macro lens. But the jewlery itself is gorgeous, and thick, and the photos inside are super crisp.)
6. (ok, I know it’s 5 for friday, but it’s already so late in the day so I am throwing in one more). While bsquared is closed for the month of August, I’m only closed in the sense that I’m not TAKING any pictures for clients. I’m still so far behind on the editing that there will be plenty of shoots still posted to the blog of client sessions. Plus, Holiday Cards 2009 will be debuting as well as more of the Ju-jewelry collection, and all of my personal pictures. So please keep coming back to visit every day, my loyal stalkers! There might be a lull in the action for the 1st week of August because I will actually BE on vacation then, but I might schedule some stuff to post while I’m away.

some bsquared business
So very much going on around here, trying to keep everyone in the loop.
1. The bsquared calendar for September- December is officially open for booking. You can find it here: http://www.bsquaredphotography.net/?page_id=3635. It has been the case that these dates book like wildfire, so if you are interested in a shoot, please book as soon as possible so you don’t miss out. First come, first served.
At this point, I will not be booking more times & dates then are currently listed on the calendar. I may open up some additional dates and times, but I am not promising that will be the case.
I will start a waiting list once (if) the current calendar fills up. I fit in almost everyone last year and hope to do the same this year, but the client list is growing. So, please book as soon as possible to lock in your spot.
2. This year all photos that are needed for the holidays must be taken by Monday 11/30. I will be booking very few shoots in December, but any pictures taken in December will not be available until mid to late January. Sorry, but no exceptions. Seriously.
3. Holiday cards- the 2009 templates will be up on the blog in August. (ok, can you even believe we are talking about holiday cards in July?) I’ll have lots of new and varied cards to choose from. All holiday card orders must be in by Monday, December 7th in order to ensure holiday delivery by December 15th. Again, no exceptions.
4. I have two last minute openings for this Sunday, July 19th. One at 3pm, one at 6pm. Email me at bbeyrer1@optonline.net if you are interested.
5. I have 7 shoots yet to be edited, plus the 9 shoots currently booked for the remainder of July. So even though I’ll be ‘off’ in August, I’m not really going to be so off at all.
Edited to Add 6. Our family will be away on vacation in early August. This means two things- One, anyone waiting for pictures: I will edit them as soon as I can, so please just bear with me. I will be working on orders and edits during August, just not while away. And two- bsquared will be travelling to the following locations: Cleveland, Cinncinatti, Pittsburgh, and Detroit. If you are in one of those places and are interested in a shoot, please email me at bbeyrer1@optonline.net and we’ll see if we can work it out.
That’s all for now. I think. I’m going to leave this post up for a few days but expect a new one on Monday. Have a great weekend, everyone.

7 for sunday
Since I never did my 5 for friday, here’s a makeup post. But, that means I have to come up with 7 things to post…pressure!
1. Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there. And a special Fathers Day wish to my wonderful husband, John. I couldn’t ask for a better daddy to our boys. We had a great brunch down at the beach club with (almost) everyone. (aunt nez is home sick, and feather went down to NJ to help out her sister in law).
Since all 7 cousins were together, I also took the Beyrer grandparents Christmas card shot. But I’m not posting it so it can be a surprise at the holidays.
2. Took these at a recent beach shoot. I always get the best sunsets down there. Do we all even remember the sun??? Same picture, seconds apart, just with different processing.
3. Timmy finished up school last week. Took some pictures of his fabulous teachers and friends on his last day. He really had a great year and learned so much. His teachers just loved him to bits and I’m pretty sure he felt the same about them.
4. The big boys had their spring concert last week also which was so fun to go to. Just wish I had better seats so I could’ve seen Jack singing too. Why they insist on putting the twins on complete opposite sides of the chorus, I still don’t know. Patrick also played the sax, but was in the waaaaaay back. So much so that I could only see the top of his head. He’s such a goood boy and knows his mommy so well- he stood up at the end and smiled right at me so I could grab one shot. And then there was the traditional celebratory carvel run. With lots of ice cream all over their white dress shirts. Whatever, it was worth it!
5. My best friend from college, Robin and her husband Joe had their baby on April 28th. At 25 weeks. His name is Eoin (pronounced Owen) and he was born at just about 2lbs. He’s doing so well (it was very rough at the beginning as you can imagine, including being transferred to Yale Hospital NICU which is about an hour away from the hospital and town where he was born and in which they live. So add on an hour commute each day, each way to the stress of a micro-preemie) and he is making great progress. Robin shared all kinds of good news today: Eoin is now about 4lbs, his brain scan yesterday was all clear (there was concern about some oxygen deprivation/damage on a previous scan), and his eyesight developing better than they had hoped (eye damage is another area of concern with babies born that early because of immaturity and because of the ventilator). He was also taken off the ventilator via mouth today and put back on the nose only version. So the big man is making lots of progress. I can’t wait to visit him! Here are a few pix I stole off of their website. I can’t believe he’s such a blondie!!!
6. Jack got his palate expander in this week and he’s doing surprisingly well with it. A little garbled speech still and a lot of extra spit, but he’s a real trooper and not complaining about it at all. This week we start the expanding process, so the pain part should kick in. It’s not going to be pleasant…for any of us. But he did surprise me so far, so I guess you never know.
7. and a little bsquared business….the calendar for July is really filling up (and I’m taking August off). So if you are interested in booking a shoot, you might want to do it soon. If you’d like to start booking dates in Sept-Dec, please shoot me an email at bbeyrer1@optonline.net and we’ll get you set up.

five for friday & some headshots
Hope everyone is enjoying the first sunny day in what seems like a zillion years (at least here in NY).
1. Went to Mother’s Day Tea in Patrick’s class today. What an event!!! His teacher does this every year (he had the same teacher in Kindergarten and she did it then too). The kids all worked SO hard on their auto-biographies and their presentations to their mom’s in front of the whole class and the song they all sang. There was not a dry eye in the house- including me!! Why I bothered to put on makeup today is beyond me. Of course there were pictures… will show you next week.
2. I had a photography workshop yesterday evening with the fabulous Michael Norwood from CA. It was fate, I think, that it actually worked out. He happened to be in NY for a few days for work, and I happened to inquire about the workshop at the same time. We were able to work it out for him to come here to my house. He was incredible, answering every single question I had and some I didn’t even know to ask. I had more than a few lightbulb moments, especially on the issues that cause me the most problems when shooting. He explained things so well and in such easy to understand terms. Michael was so generous with his time and knowledge and I will forever be grateful. I’m SO excited!! I’m going to be taking the photography to a whole new level I think. And there was lots of help on post processing too with waaaay more generosity there too. Really, awesome!!!!!!
(Michael, if you are reading this, thank you dosen’t cover it. Thanks for dinner too- hope you liked the sushi! Hope to see you in Cali eventually!) I do have to mention my favorite part of the evening – calling my friend Beth and telling her “THE Michael Norwood is in my house, on my computer and singing I’m the Map from Dora”! What can I say? I’m a little excited with photography celebrities!
3. Heather had a ‘playdate’ with Timmy while I worked with Michael. Timmy is enamored and can’t wait to play again. (for anyone wondering, Heather is also ‘with the band’- you’ve seen her in many of my pictures and she’s the one who took some from the bar at the Madison Hall Turn show). Thanks Heather!!!
4. The stomach virus from earlier this week although awful, was a big help in jump starting an extremely overdo and needed diet. I actually ate a salad for lunch today and liked it. That just dosen’t happen- I don’t do salad. I’m reminded of “The Devil Wears Prada” being one stomach flu away from my goal weight. However, in my case it would probably be more like 6 or 7 stomach flus away…
5. Four communions to shoot tommorrow. Please everyone send prayers for good non raining weather.
Here are some headshots I did for my friend Vince who is starting his real estate career. He’s based out of Caldwell Banker in Babylon, but will be covering all of the south shore of Long Island. If you are looking to buy or sell and want someone who will work hard for you, Vince’s number is 631.274.1949. I used to work with him about 13 years ago at Jimlar (the shoe company) and we recently reconnected on FB. That was good timing!!
Hope you all have a great weekend and a Happy Mothers Day!!

In other bsquared news…I think I will be taking most of, if not all of August off again this year. Looks like I will be joining the boys and John on this year’s baseball trip! (with the agreement that we have to STOP anywhere on the road I say because I’d like to take a picture there).
I have some new shoots to post over the next few days (both personal and clients) so be on the lookout for those. Tonight we’re celebrating Passover here with our sorry excuse for a Seder but the traditional watching of The Ten Commandments with Matzo & Tunafish sandwiches will occur on Saturday night. Off to do some birthday shopping today for John and then to help out the Easter Bunny on either Friday or Saturday.
And because a post is just better with a picture, here you go:
