    the rvc education foundation gala-2012

I was asked to photograph the gala again this year and was happy to do it. It’s a great foundation, the honorees received well deserved awards, and I got to see lots of friends while working.

Darren & Tina- my goto people for the gala and the coordinators for the evening who did a wonderful job as always!Mr & Mrs Masin. Mr. Masin was one of the honorees. His lovely daughter was his speech stand in (he was losing his voice due to bronchitis) and did a wonderful job for her dad when he needed a break.Mr. & Mrs. Murphy. Mr. Murphy was the other honoree for the evening. His speech was hysterical and he had everyone laughing. Our mayor and his lovely wife. Always a pleasure…And some of the friends I look forward to seeing at the gala every year.I have this picture of these two gentlemen every year at the same table. Just a different location. The pretty lady in the middle is my ‘daughter that I’ll never have’s’ actual mom. Love her.Darren and two of the teachers from his school. The whole gala committee.

    patrick

His I Am poem from the beginning of this school year (7th grade).

    Patrick

    Clever, Smart, Friendly

    Son of John and Beth

Who loves baseball, learning new things and sharing new ideas.

Who feels that the Mets have to eventually win a World Series, school is top of the list important, and pondering and being curious is a necessity to succeed.

Who finds happiness in baseball, 100%s on tests, and building legos

Who needs amazing friends and an unlimited supply of Lego bricks.

Who fears failing a test, the US turning to the side of communism, and vile, vicious reptiles.

Who would like to play for the New York Mets, the Yankees to disappear, and go to an Ivy League College.

Who enjoys watching baseball, vacations to Disney, and doing well in school.

    Resident of Long Island.

Love my Patrick- my second born twin who doesn’t like to admit it but still loves hugs, is his own hardest critic, an amazingly talented writer, and cannot stand anyone two faced.

And do you notice some similarities between him and Jack? (Jack’s post yesterday). Twins much? But there are a few differences too and it makes me excited to see who they are turning into as they grow up.

    jack

His I Am poem from the beginning of this school year (7th grade)

    Jack

    Stubborn, Comical, Clumsy

Who loves a well-played baseball game, his amazing, wonderful family and any kind of Lego brick.

Who feels the Yankees should die off and leave New York, the US should run a British style Parliament, and that ice cream should be considered a real dinner.

Who finds happiness in being with his wacky friends, reading a good book and going to church.

Who needs the Mets to win 30 consecutive World Series against the Yankees and go to an Ivy League school.

Who fears Communist aggression, wiry, coiled, man-eating snakes and being alone in the middle of the ocean.

Who would like one million dollars, a delectable fudge-filled brownie (yum) and equal human rights for everyone.

Who enjoys baseball, history, and most of all – being himself.

    Resident of the tri-state area.

He’s definitely full of opinions. Love my boy- my first born, the one who always wants everyone to be nice and fair, who trips over air, and who is always ‘red’.

    secret readers

Back when school started I signed up to be a secret reader in Timmy’s class (when you go in and read to the class but none of the kids knows who’s coming in to read until you show up.) Well, we had an extra surprise this year with Jack & Patrick coming in to do the reading! The 1st graders really loved it, Mrs. Powers and Ms. A really loved it too as they were the boys 1st grade teachers!) and the boys & Timmy loved it most of all!

Timmy looks a little excited and proud, huh?Jack read Those Darn Squirrels. Patrick read The Pout Pout Fish (which is fitting cause we often call him Poutrick when he’s in a pissy mood. My favorite line in the book is when the other fish are telling the pout pout fish that he’s being a ‘kalidiscope of mope’. Oh yeah, we use that around here too!) Timmy sold Patrick right out at that part. Patrick and Mrs. Powers. Cannot even believe that they are within inches of the same height. We loooooove Mrs. Powers- she’s an amazing teacher! It’s like 1st grade all over again. Except with much taller boys. Ms. A is also an amazing teacher and I remember Jack just loving her and constantly inching his way onto her lap in the classroom daily. Mrs. Powers and Ms. A are taking full credit for the boys excellent reading skills and their 99 averages as they were the start of it all. I think they should take the credit- they deserve it!!
