visitors day, japan, & projects
Last Thursday (see, I’m a week behind…arrrggghh!) was Visitors Day at the boys school. The theme this year was It’s a small world and it was very, very cute. John couldn’t make it so my mom came along so each boy had a visitor in their classroom. They started in the gym with a Japanese story and song that they all played on their recorders. Then it was off to the classrooms (in which I had exactly 7.5 minutes each) to hear some presentations on Japan and see the haiku’s the boys wrote along with the art they made. It was a really great Japan presentation. You could totally tell how hard the whole class (and the teachers) worked on the whole thing. And both boys received HUGE compliments from their teachers on their Haiku’s.
Grandma took the boys out to lunch while I took Timmy to PT & OT. Even though I felt bad I couldn’t be in two places at once (I really wanted to take them out to lunch), they didn’t really seem to mind as they each ended up going with Grandma to the store and getting 5 new Kooky Pens each. And on a side note about those Kooky Pens…they have so many now, that Patrick’s backpack actually broke under the weight of all the pens hanging off the zipper today.
In other news around here, I am working on a few photographic projects around the house. Went to HomeGoods and just about bought them out of frames. I have a project in mind for the den, living room, and timmy’s room for now. Then moving on to the boys room and our room last. Might even throw something in the dining room someplace in there too. Ya know, in all my free time! I will post pictures when each project gets moving. Maybe some before & afters.
Getting everyone ready for the big wedding (grandma & grandpa’s) on this Sunday. It should be a whole lot of fun!

What are you waiting for….Purim???
The above must be said in your very best Yiddish intonation. And for my many non-jewish friends out there, the correct pronounciation of Purim is Purrrr-im (purr like a cat purrs), not pure-im. The what are you waiting for thing is John’s favorite and pretty much only Jewish saying. He likes to say it a lot. My mother is thrilled that she has one Jewish grandchild (he’s not really, it’s just that his school is in a temple and they observe all the Jewish holidays). So they had a big Purim party at Timmy’s school. Here’s an overload of pictures- but they were all so cute, I couldn’t decide which ones to leave out.
Timmy loved the story of Purim and was the only one in the class to remember all the names of the people in the story. He is wearing his Hayman hat, shaking his groger (a noisemaker), and LOVED saying BOOOO whenever Hayman’s name is mentioned. Uch, such a punim (that means what a face).

the school fair
The boys school has a big fundraiser fair every year. It’s really a fun day, with lots of stuff going on for the kids to do. Some of the teachers show up during the day too so it makes it fun for the kids to see their teachers "out and about". Brought the new camera for practice and got a few shots. I am noticing that the color coming out of the new camera is just incredible. I am loving that.
Also took the big boys outside for some more camera practice. There are just so many more settings and options on this camera and I have a looooong way to go until I feel totally comfortable with it. And for any of you who might have noticed, the boys are in opposite colors than usual.
I am in the middle of editing yesterday’s photoshoot at the beach. I am hoping to have those done and up on the blog by Wednesday.

Timmy’s first day of school
He started today and will be going 2 days a week for 2.5hrs. Separation. It’s the big time baby! Today was just an hour and the mom’s stayed in the building just in case. He was SO excited to go to "timmy’s school" today and was asking for his backpack since he woke up this morning. After dropping the big boys at school, we went over to his school- all, of course, after the required pictures were taken. His teacher told us at orientation that she didn’t want the moms to come into the room, so I basically gave him a quick kiss and sent him off into the room. He did great!!!! No crying for the hour he was in there. He was so happy to see me after class (and I was so happy to see him, and to see him smiling) and I got a brief rundown in the car as to what he did in class. At least I have one kid who tells me something that happens at school!
-played with "orange playdough at the table and made a boat."
-Miss Diane read a story called "Let’s Go Shopping"
-had a goldfish snack
-played with toys (put the baby to sleep)
-told me his classmates names (there are only 4 kids in the class- it’s so nice)
-made a picture with crayons and stickers
– sang the goodbye song with Miss Diane
-"sang the goodbye song and then the mommies came back". " you came back, mommy!"
When I asked him if he had fun he said "I like it school!" And he wants to go back again. Can’t wait til next week. I just hope it goes as well then. Good job, Timmy! He’s so big, huh?

Back to School!
A little late with this post, I know. But the (big) boys went back to school on Wednesday and had a GREAT day! They love their teachers and were so excited about seeing their friends again. They are really looking forward to this year a lot, especially learning to write in cursive. That seems to be a very big deal and the first thing Patrick told me about on his way out of school yesterday. And my favorite thing so far is that both boys have agenda books where they write in their homework assignments and any other notes- it’s a CALENDAR!!! So they have a list and a calendar too, just like their crazy obsessive Mommy! I don’t think they are quite as excited about that as I am, but that’s okay. I’m probably excited enough for both of them.
I only snapped a few pictures on the way to school and out front. I didn’t want to annoy them any more than absolutely necessary on their first day. But tonight is the first soccer practice and tommorrow the first soccer game so I will get my chance then for more.
So I sent them with ALL their supplies on the first day of school this year (instead of spreading them out over the first week like in the past) and man, those boxes were HEAVY. But they managed and their desks are all set up at school now.
I think Timmy is really missing them during the day, but soon his extremely busy schedule will start so he won’t be as lonley without "his boys".
