    rvc royals

As the prep for Cooperstown Dreams Park continues (you should see my color coded spread sheet. Seriously!! I decided to take the “swag” orders on and have been compiling all kinds of info on my pretty spreadsheet!) the boys are all improving so much and having so much fun playing. This game was against Seaford on that really stormy day last week and they were lucky to get the whole game in before the first rumble of thunder as they were leaving the dugout. Happy to report they won!!

Jack has been pitching a few games and is doing really well. Not the fastest pitcher but throws strikes and is pretty consistent. One kid on an opposing team we saw at the beach the day after a game where Jack pitched. He said to Jack “you were throwing lobs out there”. Jack’s reply? “Then why didn’t you hit any?”. Ha! Homerun!!Conferring w Jamie.Anthony.Jamie. Who actually smiled right at me. Thanks!!Jack.Timmy. Checking out his baseball cards in the dugout. And practicing his pitching.Jack C who hit a home run!!Glenn.MikeyD.James. Johnny. Zach.And Patrick. Who got a new bat for his upcoming birthday from his dad. And is really hitting the crap out of the ball. So I guess it was a good investment.
Lots more baseball to come before Cooperstown at the end of August. As you can see from the first picture, they’re just barely tolerant of me and my camera so I have to pick and choose my games to photograph. Don’t want to wear out my welcome!!

    three for thursday

I know, three’s a little lame but I just don’t have it in me for 13 today. Drove back and forth to Rhode Island yesterday for a session so I’m a little tired.

    1. The boys travel baseball team (The Royals) have been kicking butt and taking names. Well, except for two games where they lost. Like a lot. But they’ve really come a long way and have really been playing like a TEAM. Watching them get better has been fun for me (yes, I said it. But I still don’t like baseball- only the Royals!) With everyone’s summer schedule, we’ve had a few kids out from games and a few subs playing. I took this one after one of their great wins (against a team that has always beat them in the past).

Coaches Rob, John and John. Jack was particularly happy after pitching during the game!

    2. We’re almost at 1,000 likes over on the bsquared Facebook page!! Only 5 away! Thank you so much to everyone who has already liked it, and if you haven’t yet and you feel like it, please go over and like bsquared too. There will be HUGE giveaways to celebrate the 1,000 like milestone- but they’re a surprise. Really,  really good surprises.

    3. I’ve been getting several emails and calls about the fall calendar. I’ll be opening that up in mid August, so be on the lookout for that. If you sign up for the bsquared newsletter over on your left, you’ll be sure to receive all the calendar updates and all the other bsquared news.

Be back tomorrow with a better blog post. Have a great day!

    total baseball overload

Two weeks ago, the boys played a travel game in the morning and a little league game in the evening. Kinda funny watching them play on the same team in one game and then on opposing teams the next. Being a complete non-athlete myself, I don’t know how that works.

First was the Royals vs. the Blue Demons.

Johnny.James.Jack C.Anthony.Mike.Parents. Dog.Schmitty.I like a dog that’ll stand on your head. Like a hat.James.Glenn.Jack.Johnny & Anthony.Jamie.Johnny.Jack C.Patrick.Mike.James.Patrick.Michael.Schmitty.Coach Tom.Mike.Johnny, Mike & Jamie.Anthony.Jamie.Patrick.They won!A little celebratory Mr. Softee. I still want to know how the ice cream guys know exactly when to show up at the fields. Maybe it’s like some sixth sense that you’re required to have before you can drive the truck?A few hours and a load or two of laundry later, it was time for the little league game. Patrick started at catcher.Jack at first. A little hitting and pitching from Zach.Johnny, cracking himself up between plays.Danny.Glenn who is on their travel team. Nick.Mike who is also on their travel team.Johnny. Travel team as well.Unfortunately, they lost this game but they couldn’t have been happier with the “all baseball, all day” thing they have going on. I think some of this weekend’s games are getting rained out but at least the boys were at the historic Mets game last night for the first Mets no-hitter ever.  (are you so impressed that I knew that? It’s only because I saw it on Facebook on friends statuses.)

    “what the hell is that?!?”

Is exactly what Jack said when he saw THIS on the beach yesterday:

Yup, that’s John. Out of his chair, without his newspaper and PLAYING CORNHOLE ON THE BEACH!!!! This is a very, very big deal. The man doesn’t leave his chair much and hasn’t for the 13 summers we’ve been down at Sun and Surf. You can pretty much always find him in the same spot, reading the paper, drinking his beer, wearing his hat and listening to the Mets and not really talking to anyone too much. (he will play a game of catch with the boys, go in the pool or ocean with them, but this is unheard of) But yesterday, there was this.

This is what things have always looked like (even during the flood of 2010):

Then Jack said “AND he’s being social?” The kid’s sharp but the whole thing was completely blowing his mind.  Total confusion. And in other beach news, it was a fantastic (although shocking) day down at Sun & Surf. Christine, Jayson, Tommy & new baby Charlotte joined us for the day and the boys were so happy to have all their buddies down there to hang out with and play lots and lots of baseball.Baby Charlotte enjoying her first day at the beach at three weeks old. She was all wrapped up and under the umbrellas all day and was happy as could be.The Tom half of Timtom. And the Tim half of Timtom. After a great day and the rain holding off until we were literally walking to the car  we came back home and ordered some pizza. Charlotte had her own meal and then had a little photoshoot of her own (pictures on that soon).Hope you all had a great first day of summer! I think we’re off to a great start- and I took this whole weekend off!

    royals baseball vs. wb crush

Taking a break from the communion photos for a day and posting pictures from the most recent RVC Royals game. Unfortunately, they lost both games but they played well and finally started to keep their spirits up even when they were not doing great score wise.

Just a note- the sun was in and out so my exposures are all over the place. A sports photographer I am not, but I’m working on improving. I feel like I have to be able to look out of both eyes in different directions at the same time. So not happening.

And communions resume tomorrow. See you back here then.
