cayla’s bat mitzvah- the portraits
After getting ready (you know I loved LOVED her silver glitter doc’s!) we headed up to the Allegria Hotel’s roofdeck, only for it to start raining almost immediately upon arrival. So we rushed to get in as many shots as we could before they kicked us off (i guess the deck gets slippery when it rains and they don’t let anyone out there anymore). The backdrop of the beach was lovely and I felt like we were in Miami Beach instead of Long Beach.

cayla’s bat mitzvah- the temple
So my good friend’s daughter became a Bat Mitzvah a few weeks ago and I was on hand to take lots (and lots!) of pictures on her special day. I know how hard Cayla worked studying her Torah portion and all of the other requirements for the day, I even took her to one of her lessons with the Rabbi when her mom was out of town. I didn’t stay, but got to hear a good part of it on the way to the temple! Cayla has a really pretty voice and she carried the whole service beautifully. Some other events during the service worth a mention- all of her uncles, dad, mom and brother passing the Torah on to Cayla, her absolute race around the synogogue carrying the Torah (like she couldn’t get that done fast enough and the Rabbi commenting if there was ever a Torah race, she’d win hands down) and my personal favorite part was her mom welling up with tears on the Bimah during speaking about Cayla and saying “shit”. Everyone cracked up- even the Rabbi- so I guess it’s all ok. Stay tuned for portraits and party photos soon.

cassie’s bat mitzvah-the party
My favorite part of posting this today is that I was with all of these fabulous family yesterday again! It was another family member’s first communion yesterday so I spent a bit of the day with them, which is always a good time for me! Cassie’s party was super fun and everyone was having a great time. Even me! Hope you enjoy the rest of Cassie’s special day(s)- she’s a lovely young lady who is sweet, beautiful, talented and just a joy to be around and photograph!

cassie’s bat mitzvah- the service
I photographed her older brother’s “coming of age” service and party a few years back, so now its Cassie’s turn. Her Bat Mitzvah service was beautiful, celebrated in an ecumenical campus, with a very awesome Rabbi who wanted everyone there to feel involved. Cassie has a beautiful singing voice (like really beautiful) and sang “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera, accompanied by her brother on the piano, which brought everyone to tears. I’m actually seeing the whole family and extended family today for Cassie’s cousin’s Communion. Stay tuned for the party- I’ll post that tomorrow.

sydney’s bat mitzvah- the party
Here’s some other highlights from Sydney’s special day. The party was a lot of fun, the kids were awesomely polite and well behaved (I know a lot of them and was seriously impressed with their behavior!) and the girl of the day looks like she had a great time with her family and friends. A gorgeously appointed room with lots of red and a NYC theme, no detail was overlooked.
