    jake is born

Saturday night (actually Sunday reeeeeeeeeally early morning) I had the first of what I hope to be many birth shoots. It was an incredible experience and I am so lucky and honored that Jenn & Scott let me share this most special of days with them. I  am still on a high from the shoot and watching a new life come into this world. Watching what the human body is capable of was seriously awe inspiring. Many thanks to Jenn & Scott for allowing me into their lives at a very private time, to Winthrop Hospital, Dr. Dilenna, Michelle (Jenn’s nurse), Tricia (my on call “in” just in case), Val (Jenn’s mom and other birth coach), and all of Jenn & Scott’s families who kept me awake and laughing in the waiting room during the long haul wait.

I arrived at the hospital at around 11pm, finally got into Jenn’s room at around 2:30am, and witnessed Jake Martin being born at 3:58am. He was 7 pounds, 7 ounces, 21.5″ long and miraculous!

Please watch the video to see all the pictures (ok, well not ALL the pictures but everything that was suitable to post on the internet!) of Jake’s birth. Jenn & Scott, I can’t thank you enough!! Wishing you every happiness with your new little family. And I can’t wait for the newborn shoot!!

I just wanted to add that:

    1. I hope you cried or at least got chills during the video. I’d love to hear what you think, please feel free to comment below.

    2. That my favorite picture from the whole night was Jenn having her celebratory lollipop while texting and Dr. Dilenna stitching her up. That is SO totally her.

and 3. If there are any expectant mothers out there who are interested in a birth session, I’d looooove to do another one. I think I’m addicted!

    robin & eoin

As those of you who are friends or blog stalkers know the story of my BFF from college and her miracle baby who was born at 25 weeks. You can always read their story here. Eoin turned 2 (omg, where did the time go?!) yesterday and is doing amazingly well! With the red hair, green eyes and beaming smile he had me drooling over him the minute I got there. And then when he loved playing with me and let me hold him? Done.

So one week from today, Robin & Joe (and Eoin too) will be welcoming their identical twin girls!!!!!!! to the family. Robin’s going full term with this pregnancy, and although they had an IVF appointment set up, they found out a week before the appointment that she was pregnant. With twins. On their own.  Totally crazy and a miracle. Again!

Look how good Robin looks!! When I first walked in and saw her, I said you aren’t so big at all. Especially not for twins! Right? From the side view, there are definitely two babies in there! And I know she cannot wait for them to be born so she can breathe because her lungs aren’t in her neck anymore. And eat more than 5 bites without feeling full cause her stomach is squished someplace in there. And walk without baby A’s head pressing on her siatic nerve at every step. I know these things because I was pregnant with twins once (and cause she told me!)Eoin’s pretty excited, too!Omg, kill me now with that smile. And don’t even get me started on those eyelashes. I’m funny. Especially to two year olds. So in college, Robin painted this beautiful picture of a girl in a clearing in a forest, with dark hair, looking down. It was never quite finished (at least not to Robin) but I always loved it. And the shot of Robin on the left reminds me SO much of that painting.

Eoin is enjoying the new minivan they just got. With three kids, it’s what you gotta do.  Cannot wait until ‘the’ phonecall next Friday. And to find out what the girls names are (cause Robin won’t tell me and I’m so impatient)! And to see if they have Eoin’s coloring. And who they look like. And to go back up and take a thousand twin newborn pictures!! Stay tuned and please send all of your good thoughts to Robin, Joe & Eoin on a very easy delivery and recovery with healthy twin girls!

Dawn and I have been friends since way back in the middle school days and I was so happy to hear that she and Rob are expecting. Twin girls!! I was thrilled that she called me for a maternity shoot and was really looking forward to seeing her again. The day didn’t disappoint!

Are they not the cutest couple?!Dawn, you look gorgeous!! All glowy.Love her perfectly round belly. Cooking up 2 babies in there isn’t easy (believe me, I know!) but Dawn is doing great! The original baby. Good luck to you both- I’m so super happy for you and can’t wait to meet those little girls soon!!

    jenn + scott = ? (jake)

Lots of maternity sessions recently and scheduled in the upcoming weeks. This one was a little different and had more of a boudoir feel to it. Although the pictures are really pretty tame, you might want to make sure kids (especially older kids) are away from the blog before scrolling down to the pictures.

Jenn is so totally fabulous (there is no better word to describe her) and as gorgeous as she is (maybe even moreso pregnant), that’s how sweet she is too. So as much as you’d like to hate her, you just can’t.

Jake’s room is all ready for him. Now its just waiting for him to arrive.

Jenn, you are stunning. And fabulous!Love the ring that matches the lingerie. And the proud soon to be daddy. He’s always such a good sport for pictures.  Thanks for a fantastic fabulous shoot! Can’t wait to meet baby Jake!

    the felb maternity session

For all my blog stalkers: So sorry I’ve been so lax on the blogging this week. I have a really, really bad sinus infection (so basically between this and the diptheria throat infection I had before this I’ve been sick for almost 3 weeks straight. Fabulous.) I’ve been pretty much layed out for a few days with fever, aches, chills, pains in my face, teeth and jaw, runny/stuffy nose, cough, random shooting hand pain (?), and just general sickness. Good times. Gotta shake this soon because I have a wedding to photograph next weekend and then a Disney trip to go on!

So getting back to work: After photographing this couple’s rehearsal dinner a few years back (time certainly does fly) I’m so happy and excited that I got to photograph their maternity session as well. Love watching people make their way thru life and all of the exciting things that happen. And this is definitely no exception!

Someone’s all glowy!!Yes, it’s a boy. Daddy is so excited to have a football buddy of his own!The original baby on the right. He’s so cute and pretty excited about the new baby too, I think.  In a few more months you’ll get to see their newest addition on the blog in his debut newborn shoot. Can’t wait for that!!
