the funniest thing, possibly ever.
My great photografriend Kate and I shot a wedding last year where we didn’t get served dinner. Or any food for that matter. Yeah, that’s a 10 hour day with nothing to eat while working non stop for 8 of those 10 hours. Shaking hands on the dance floor, dizziness, basically not a good scene. We had to literally beg the maitre’d for some food- anything at all. We got 2 rolls. Stale rolls that we could’ve killed someone with on impact. (It’s now in the bsquared contract that we have to be fed during a wedding or else we have to leave for up to 1.5hrs to get food elsewhere. Not making that mistake again.) So after we recovered after that wedding, the roll for dinner has become an ongoing joke. I try to sneak it in at every wedding we shoot together somewhere.
At Kristen & Raul’s wedding this summer it all came full circle. They fed us really well and Kristen is the coolest. While Kate was over getting her plate meticulously prepared, Kristen told one of the servers to go up to her and take her plate, telling her she was the help and therefore not authorized to eat the food that was for the guests. And handed her a plate with a roll. Best. reaction. EVER.
I cannot look at these pictures without laughing. And I’m celebrating my “new fake birthday” today (for those of you who don’t know my birthday is actually 9/11 but after 10 years it’s still not getting any better, so I decided to move it to a new day) so the laughs are extra special! Kate & I are shooting a wedding tomorrow for another fabulous bride and groom. Can’t wait to figure out where the roll is going to make it’s appearance- it’s like where’s waldo but with a roll.

jake’s little man mustache bash (aka 1st birthday)
Be ready for total picture overload! Jake is my first and so far only birth session baby so he holds a special place in my heart and lens! I was so excited (and honestly, a little surprised that he was turning the big oh-one already!) to photograph his day. Especially with his mom being a party planner extrodinaire, I knew there wouldn’t be one single detail missed. Jenn is starting her own event planning business, and as soon as I have a link for her website I’ll be sure to share it because you NEED to hire her for your next event.
He looks like the guy who answers the door in the Wizard of Oz with that mustache on! But way cuter!!
And some (ok, a lot) of the party details. They were too awesome to leave anything out!
Do you recognize those pictures?
The little milk bottles were my personal favorites.Grandma and her boy.Lots of very familiar faces at the party. The mustache painting didn’t work out well, but was a good try.Someone was reeeeeeally enjoying her cake pop.So big!Time for cake! (he was pretty displeased with the whole cake thing. Not that you can tell by his face or anything…)This may very well be my favorite photo from the whole party. Mommy’s gorgeous legs, Jake’s chubby cakey legs, and Ali smashing the cake. You might die of the cuteness. Happy birthday Mr. Jake!! Can’t wait to keep watching you grow!!

sydney’s sweet 16
A super fun and amazingly themed sweet 16 at the Garden City Hotel nightclub for a great girl. I’ve photographed their family once before- for the littlest sister’s christening. And now that baby is walking all over the place. Time certainly does fly and I’m sure Sydney’s mom feels the same way celebrating her daughters sweet 16! A little birdy told me that today is Sydney’s actual birthday- so happy birthday!!
Sydney’s whole court. Would have liked to get them centered in the room a little more, but there was a very rude gentleman sitting on the couch on the right who would not move. Still, a great looking bunch. You getting the theme yet?
Gorgeous girl. Love the multi colored hair the most!!A big thank you to Charles who was assisting me and set up the below shot as well as helping during the whole night.
Love this one- happiest girl in the crowd!Hope all your wishes come true! Have a wonderful birthday!

rachel’s sweet 16 brunch
On a busy day of shooting, I ran by Rachel’s sweet 16 brunch at the firehouse for a few minutes to wish the birthday girl a happy one. Caught a few pictures before I had to run out to get to my day of sessions.
The very pretty birthday girl.
With her boyfriend.Uncle Joe (aka Malibu Barbie Joe) and the boys. I don’t know why Patrick looks scared. Rachel and her nana. Some of her friends. And the very cool beachy cake. Rachel’s present is a full on photoshoot, so look for pictures from that. Someday soonish.

mason’s first birthday party
I’ve been photographing his family for a few years now and was thrilled when they asked me to capture their son’s first birthday party recently. It was quite the shindig with lots of family , little friends and entertainment to help Mason celebrate his big day. I loved the Cookie Monster theme and the birthday boy was as cute as ever!
Some faces in the crowd…
