big wave movie night & a little biz
The country club we belong to has a movie night every summer where all the kids get to into the pool with floats (the float thing is ‘outlawed’ in the pool the rest of the year) and they play a movie on the BIG screen over the pool. We went again this year and John’s business partner and his family joined us, just like last year.
And just like last year, we had a great time! Lots of pictures. Surprising, I know.
Just floating. Here in the pool. (my favorite line from the movie The Graduate)
Timmy’s swimming skills are improving but he still kinda sinks like a stone. He’s taking lessons this year at Hempstead which are great. But the kid has no fear whatsoever. Last weekend he jumped into the big pool at the beach with no swimmies and no adult. Ahhh…dude? You can’t swim!
Love this one.
And this one too.
My ‘new’ friend Suzanne and part of her family. She is one of those people that we should have been friends for a long time but just never ran into eachother until….Facebook.
And a little bit of bsquared business: As of last night, there are only 9 spots left in September (plus one day of mini sessions in the park) and 2 spotsleft in October (with a day of mini sessions in the park). Still plenty left in November. Here’s the link to the most updated calendar: http://www.bsquaredphotography.net/?page_id=3635
One last thing…my friends and the owners of bcauseisaidso are selling out all of their current inventory as they are revamping their offerings for the fall. You can see some of their shirts here and here. There are also fun mommy thongs and other products as well. Their shirts are on sale for 1/2 off (a great deal) and at previous parties people have been scooping up the shirts by the handfull. The shirts make great gifts for birthdays and newborns. They are having another party this Friday 7/31 from 9:30am-12pm in Rockville Centre. If you are interested in going, just email me at bbeyrer1@optonline.net for address details.

5 for Friday
1. So after ‘officially’ opening the bsquared fall calendar last weekend, I have booked 35 shoots! Craziness!! Thank you to all my clients both repeat and new, and to all my clients who have referred a friend or family member, there’s no better compliment. I never imagined bsquared photography would turn into anything close to this. I’m so lucky and I’m so grateful to you all! (and especially to John and my boys who are so supportive and let me do this crazy photography thing!)
Based on the fact that I’ve booked 35 shoots for Sept-Nov, there are not so many spots left. So don’t procrastinate and get shut out. Book your fall date now. Here’s the most updated calendar: http://www.bsquaredphotography.net/?page_id=3635
2. I bought a new chair today for the “office” (my office is a built in desk in my kitchen with the computer and all my bsquared books on it). I spend more hours than I care to count sitting here, so I figure it was time to upgrade my seating. I’m so excited to get it! Can you guess which color I ordered?
3. Been doing lots of design work for my favorite band, The Turn. They have a residency gig at a really cool bar in NYC called Arctica on Sundays for the rest of the summer. With the whole band playing! So if you are looking to get out and RockTheTurn, this would be a great place to do it- easy access right on 3rd Ave.
And some exciting news- I was just asked by the nice people at Arctica to do some promotional card design work for them too ! Thanks, B for getting me that!! So I’ll post that card when it’s all done.
4. Went with the boys and Grandma & Grandpa to see Jack & Patrick’s new horse race at Belmont. It was all exciting up until the last minute when the horse was scratched at the gate by the track vet. Loose shoes or something. So we didn’t get to see Talking Blues race, but at least we had a fun afternoon and I got some nice pictures.
Dosen’t he have a nice, sweet face?
(for you blog followers out there, you may know that Jack & Patrick had another race horse named Wheel Charmer who had a non-existant career, but was a nice horse and unfortunately had to be put down due to a leg injury. So Talking Blues is the newest horse. We are anxiously awaiting getting into that winners circle. Someday.)
The boys won $2 each on the race before so it wasn’t a total loss.
5. I’m so excited to give you a little heads up on some upcoming bsquared ‘stuff’ that’ll be offered starting in August. I’ll be putting up all my 2009 Holiday Card collection templates. So make sure you stop by the blog to see those.
AND…I am thrilled to be working with my friend Judy on her new venture : Ju-jewels. She’ll be offering custom created photo jewelery and accessories. They are beautiful and I’m proud to be sporting mine around town! Here’s a little sneak peek: (the pictures of the jewelry aren’t the best. I think I need to invest in the macro lens. But the jewlery itself is gorgeous, and thick, and the photos inside are super crisp.)
6. (ok, I know it’s 5 for friday, but it’s already so late in the day so I am throwing in one more). While bsquared is closed for the month of August, I’m only closed in the sense that I’m not TAKING any pictures for clients. I’m still so far behind on the editing that there will be plenty of shoots still posted to the blog of client sessions. Plus, Holiday Cards 2009 will be debuting as well as more of the Ju-jewelry collection, and all of my personal pictures. So please keep coming back to visit every day, my loyal stalkers! There might be a lull in the action for the 1st week of August because I will actually BE on vacation then, but I might schedule some stuff to post while I’m away.

they came, they swam, they stayed over
Our very good friends (once from town, now from Michigan) were here for their annual visit with their family and we got our day too. We spent all day yesterday together, going to the beach, watching J & P play in an away baseball game, having sushi and italian, and the kids all slept stayed over.
This year’s transition period (the boys see eachother once a year and there’s always that period of awkwardness when they first get together) was the shortest we’ve ever seen. Actually, it wasn’t there at all. Jack and Connor have been exchanging letters recently and I think that’s probably helped. They were all so excited to see eachother and got right into playing. Even Timmy and Katie jumped right in- it was like they saw eachother last week, not last summer.
My gorgeous goddaughter! Love her. I even got to comb her hair (she said I did a good job) and got unsolicited hugs.
The Z kids all spent the night here. And honestly, I couldn’t believe they stayed up as late as they did. After my boys had been up late 2x during the week, they spent the day in the ocean and the pool and played baseball or ran around in the park, I thought they would crash and hard. Nope. The little ones (Katie slept in Timmy’s room- that was Timmy’s first sleepover) stayed up until 11:30pm and the big kids were up until 12. It probably would’ve been later if I hadn’t gone up there and told them it was enough. Man, that was a lot of giggling.
And I was informed that they were all up between 6:30 and 7am this morning. Can you say bedtime by 8 tonight??
We had a great visit and I’m happy to report that we will be seeing the Z family again in 3 weeks, but this time on their turf in Michigan.

we firework’d
We think this was our 7th year going to the annual town fireworks. A big thanks as always to Uncle Jerry for the spot!
There was a threat of rain all evening and we were wavering about going and if the fireworks were actually going to go off. We made it, the fireworks happened and it was a lot of fun.
I think this was the shortest time we’ve spent at the park before and after. They started the fireworks a bit earlier than normal to beat the storm. Good thing too, cause it started pouring with thunder and lightening pretty soon afterwards.
Spent most of the day in the car yesterday with two shoots- one in Ossining and one in Islip. More of the same today with one in Westchester and one in East Hampton. Leaving East Hampton tonight around 8pm. I think I’ll make it back on Tuesday!

6 for Saturday
1. Been a crazy week with no immediate relief in sight. Once this week is over, I will have done 7 shoots including travelling to Ossining, Islip, Scarsdale and East Hampton. Well, at least they are all in NY.
2. Jack broke his palate expander this week. Yes, already. He’s been sticking his tongue between the roof of his mouth and the expander and pushing down. So hard that he not only dislodged the whole thing but actually broke the expander from one of it’s metal bands. The orthodonist said that he had NEVER seen that happen before. Well, I guess the kid has a strong tongue cause all he does is exercise it. By talking. All the time.
3. The boys all went to the Mets game Thursday night and Timmy fell asleep in the car on the way home around 10:30pm. I figured I’d just let him sleep and put him to bed in his shirt and sweatpants that he wore to the game. Well, after waking up Friday morning and saying (with a big smile) “Hey! I sleeped in my clothes last night!” he then asked if he could wear the same shirt all day Friday. So he did. (don’t judge. It’s summer and he’s just going to get dirtier anyway). So by the end of the day yesterday after being at the boys baseball camp and playing in the dirt/berries/grass and then at the boys baseball practice and playing in the same dirt/berries/grass, the child looked like a street urchin. A shower fixed him all up. Well, except for the scratches all over his face from various summer fun.
4. Looks like I will be joining all the boys on this year’s annual baseball trip. On the agenda: Cincinnatti, Pittsburgh, Clevland, and Detroit. Uh huh. Great.
If there’s anyone out there who has good places of interest (read: good places to take pictures) in any of those locations, please leave me a comment or shoot me an email. I have to have something to do. Or, if you live in any of those locations and you’d like a bsquared photoshoot, email me at bbeyrer1@optonline.net. It’ll be in early August.
5. The boys told me I had bad road rage today. They do speak the truth. Just freakin drive!!! Is it really that hard??
6. The big boys had their last day of baseball camp yesterday (until I sign them up for another weeklong camp in a few weeks). Here are some shots from the day (you can see the only slightly dirty Timmy, it got much worse later).
