jake is born
Saturday night (actually Sunday reeeeeeeeeally early morning) I had the first of what I hope to be many birth shoots. It was an incredible experience and I am so lucky and honored that Jenn & Scott let me share this most special of days with them. I am still on a high from the shoot and watching a new life come into this world. Watching what the human body is capable of was seriously awe inspiring. Many thanks to Jenn & Scott for allowing me into their lives at a very private time, to Winthrop Hospital, Dr. Dilenna, Michelle (Jenn’s nurse), Tricia (my on call “in” just in case), Val (Jenn’s mom and other birth coach), and all of Jenn & Scott’s families who kept me awake and laughing in the waiting room during the long haul wait.
I arrived at the hospital at around 11pm, finally got into Jenn’s room at around 2:30am, and witnessed Jake Martin being born at 3:58am. He was 7 pounds, 7 ounces, 21.5″ long and miraculous!
Please watch the video to see all the pictures (ok, well not ALL the pictures but everything that was suitable to post on the internet!) of Jake’s birth. Jenn & Scott, I can’t thank you enough!! Wishing you every happiness with your new little family. And I can’t wait for the newborn shoot!!
I just wanted to add that:
1. I hope you cried or at least got chills during the video. I’d love to hear what you think, please feel free to comment below.
2. That my favorite picture from the whole night was Jenn having her celebratory lollipop while texting and Dr. Dilenna stitching her up. That is SO totally her.
and 3. If there are any expectant mothers out there who are interested in a birth session, I’d looooove to do another one. I think I’m addicted!

Three small cuties were a great way to start out a busy day of shooting. Shoots like these with three (or more) kids 6 and under can go either way- really great and fun, or really hard and challenging. Lucky for me, I got the great and fun!!
Yes, he’s 6. So grown up and mature!!Boys in trees, girls in swings- all makes for a happy photographer.Couldn’t decide on color or black and white. So I’m showing you both. This one’s full of pep and giggles. And the little guy had to get woken up from his nap for his pictures. This, too, could go either way. I got lucky again and he was great! Thanks again for starting off my day in giggles and smiles! Hope you enjoy your pictures! (and next year, Mom & Dad- you ARE getting in some! Consider yourselves forewarned.)

introducing….gavin
I was so happy to hear that Kim & Sean’s baby boy, Gavin, arrived about a week ago. And even more happy when they called me to take some photographs of him. And when he was a sleepy guy that I could pose however I wanted? Well, that just took the cake!
Delicious!!
That’s some eye contact for a 1 week old. Big brother who grew about a foot since I saw him at the maternity shoot we did a few months ago.Such a happy little family. A recreation of one of my favorites from their maternity session. Except now with a whole other person in the picture. I knew I wanted the shot in the window box at the maternity shoot. So glad I got it! Congratulations to you, Kim & Sean. Gavin’s a doll (and a joy to photograph). You are going to make the best parents!!

Met this a.dor.able 8 week old baby and his lovely mom & dad for the first time and was instantly smitten. I mean, when this is the smile you get, how could you not be in lurve.
This one was actually the first photo of the day. Delicious!!We tuckered him out! It’s hard work doing all that smiling and cooing! Great meeting all of you and thanks for sharing the morning with me!
I’ll be taking the long weekend off from blogging (and no shoots this weekend either!!) as I’m in need of a little break since things have been so busy. Check back on Tuesday for more fantastic communions, families and lots more of the usual stuff! Hope everyone has a great weekend, and please remember that Memorial Day weekend isn’t only about going back to the beach, but all of the service men and women who have sacrificed their lives and who continue to fight to keep us all free and safe.

introducing evelyn & elizabeth
My BFF Robin from college and her husband Joe welcomed their identical twin baby girls last Friday 5/6 via Csection. Looks like it was just in time too, as Robin’s water broke when she was on the OR table being prepped! They got home from the hospital on Tuesday and I ran up to CT on Thursday for some pictures.
While I had all these great ideas in my head of poses I wanted to get, those didn’t happen. As soon as we got one baby settled, the other one started crying. And vice versa for the rest of the time I was there. So I worked fast and did what I could in little increments. And don’t even ask me who is who, cause I lost track about 10 minutes into shooting! So there very well may be a bunch of pictures of the same baby!!
Anyway, please welcome Evelyn Saiorse (pronounced sharesha like inertia, which means freedom in irish) and Elizabeth Morgan.
Evelyn was 6lbs, 6 oz and 18″
Elizabeth was 5lbs, 9 oz and 171/2″
And of course, the miracle baby himself, Eoin. All fashionable and stuff. So smiley for Aunt Beth. We figured we’d give Eoin his first chance to hold the babies. At first, it was okay. He was not amused. At all.
…and then it was time to go. I think it was at this point that Robin and I just looked at eachother and laughed. So, so glad this part of having twins is done for me and wishing Robin & Joe lots of luck! Having twins isn’t easy, but it sure is awesome and always an adventure!! So happy for all of you!!
