    the smi family

    My very last beach shoot of the season, and wow- what a way to end it! I really love photographing this family (and have many times now) and they are so gorgeous. Even the dog. But that’s not really why the shoot was so memorable. We had a squall. A real true full on 30mph winds, sideways rain, blowing sand, can’t see 2ft infront of you storm from hell. I totally wish I was able to take pictures of all of us looking like drowned rats running, screaming in the sideways rain but I needed my camera to be working for more shoots after this one. The rain was so totally horizontal that my back was soaked (like ring it out dripping soaked) and my front was perfectly dry. I’ve never seen anything like it.

    Just as we were wrapping up in the dunes, it started to rain. Just regular rain. So we hightailed it to the cars to wait it out. Mr.C wanted a picture of him in the rain. So I took one (if you look closely you can see lots of raindrops all over the photo below)Then when it stopped, we ran down to the ocean for our last pictures. We could see the rain coming in- we just didn’t know what kind of rain it was at the time… And then it hit the fan.

    Thanks for a great session (although rainy and quite the adventure in weather!) and I love that your session was my last beach one of the year.

    mary-kate & tom {first look & portraits}

    I was so happy that M-K & Tom opted for a first look (when the bride and groom see eachother before the ceremony). We were able to get some fantastic shots of them and their wedding party before the chaos of the rest of the evening rolled in. It was great seeing the look in their eyes when they saw eachother. So sweet.

    I loooove this shot that Kate captured.Kate hard at work. Sometimes we double as boutineer repinners. I guess I’m really happy when the pictures go the way I want them to!Here’s the actual first look.

    the fitz family

    How I adored this little guy’s easy smile, friendly ways and strawberry blond curly hair that bounced when he ran. Delish! Mom & Dad are expecting twins (!!) soon and I was very impressed by her ability to get around the park so well. I remember that besides the bed rest, I couldn’t breathe or walk very far at all. Definitely not a whole park! Can’t wait to see mr. man here as a big brother, times two.

    Without further ado, here are the ‘fitz’ family’s photos.

    Seriously, you could just eat him up, right?!

    mary-kate & tom {getting ready}

    I was so happy to help MK and Tom celebrate their wedding day earlier this month. I’ve photographed MK’s sister and her family and photographed her best friend Trisha at her wedding last year, so I was pretty thrilled when MK asked me to photograph her wedding to Tom. Their wedding was quite the fun event and everyone was so happy to be there- it was evident the whole night. My photografriend Kate second shot with me for the day and she was such a pleasure to work with!

    I was at the hotel with MK and her girls, Kate went to Tom’s house to get some shots of him with his best man. Who also happened to be his dad!

    Beautiful, glowy bride. Handsome and debonair groom.
    The roses Tom sent MK.A gift from the bride.The pastor’s expression in this shot cracked me up. He wasn’t sure how he ended up with the bouquet…Within the next week or two, lots more of MK and Tom’s wedding will be on the blog. Keep a lookout!!

    the sewa family

    For you blog stalkers out there, do you remember when I said in yesterday’s post that switching from families with little kids to big kids is fun and keeps me on my toes? Well, switching back again from little to big to little should make me a professional pointe dancer.

    Seeing this family this year was a real treat- the kids remembered me (I think) and I got to meet their new baby brother who looks just like them! They have one model of baby at their house, too!
