    dean & jess’s goodbye party

If you follow along here on the bsquared blog or on my instagram, I’m sure you’ll remember this awesome family of super hero fame & the cutest little kids. Dad/Dean is an active duty Marine and just received orders to Okinawa, Japan. So they’re on their way to a whole new adventure. The Leathernecks MC that Dean is a member of, threw them a goodbye party a few weeks ago and I was there to say my goodbyes and take some pictures. When their oldest daughter read her speech there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Crying, laughing, drinking…it was a good night. I even made the board (awwww, thanks Jess!) from the Marine Corps Ball that Jess and some of the families I took pictures for invited me to. And now that they’re moving across the globe, I found out the secret to Dean smiling for real in pictures- drinking. So if our paths ever cross again, I’m making him get drunk before our session.

Best of luck to you guys! I’ll miss you and I really hope I get to see you again (in Japan. For sushi). Thank you again Dean for your service to our country!!!! Safe travels and hugs!

    rocco’s 1st communion

Was very excited to photograph this 2-part communion for this great family! Communion on one day and the party at Bridgeview Yacht Club on the next. Luckily we had sun and beautiful weather for the communion portraits but the next day was like a monsoon so no pictures outside. The party was a lot of fun for both the kids and the adults. And I think Rocco had a great time if his smiles are any indication! They’re really a great, happy family which makes my job a pleasure!

    patrick’s 1st communion

Another first time bsquared family that was a pleasure to meet and photograph. When mom told me their son who was making his communion was one of 6 kids, I did panic a little. But I had no reason to, because they were all so great! Took a few family shots at the church before the mass and then at their party for a little while too. GaGa ball was a big hit and there was lots of fun to be had there. Patrick was such an awesome trouper for the pictures, never complained once. Great to meet you all, hope you like the photos! (oh, and cookies below from my good friend Colleen at Dover Girls Desserts. You’ll be seeing more of her work on the blog later this week too).

    the bivo kids

Sorta new to bsquared bunch (I photographed their mom’s surprise birthday a while back, but this is my first time actually photographing the kids for a portrait session). It was a fun session, getting to know the kids and their personalities which are quite varied across the bunch. Hope they had at least a little fun too!

    baby jayson is born

A brand new cousin! Got the call around 10pm that they were at the hospital and I could come AND I could bring my camera. Yup, all in and at the perfect time of the night for me too! Well, good thing I left right away because I figured I had at least 2 hours before the baby showed up. Yeah, no. All of a sudden after I arrived Christine was pushing and the baby was crowning. They didn’t even have time to break down the bed, the doctor had on one glove, and they didn’t even have on the big lights (which made the photography difficult at best!) And then there he was! So please excuse the shortness of the slideshow- it was really all that fast! No time for reaction shots even, just got what I could. Oh, and the doctor MADE me take a picture of the placenta (ew. really ew.) but don’t worry, thats not in the slideshow.

How cute is this baby? My new beach buddy (he and I had a long talk at the hospital regarding the summer to come) and so glad I got to hold him within minutes of him being born. That was pretty special.
