the rote family 3.0
For Mother’s Day this year, Dad called me and asked for a bsquared gift certificate for his wife. I’ve done pictures for this family a bunch of times already and always have a great time with them, so I was so happy that Dad called again.
DISCLAIMER: no children or icecream were harmed in the taking of these photos. Just want to put that out there. There may have been serious mess and some tears (ok, a lot of tears) when someone’s icecream fell in the dirt and mom had to rinse it off in the bathroom, but all was fine in the end.
Mom really wanted the shoot to be about the boys, but I managed to get her in a few too.
Great seeing you guys again! Looking forward to our holiday card session in the fall. To view all of the images from this shoot, please click HERE.

the bart sweet 16
I was so looking forward to shooting this Sweet 16 since her mom Facebooked me and asked me to do it. And I was not dissapointed!
Bethanne was lovely in every way. She is so put together and down to earth, yet beautiful and girly all at the same time. I hear she’s very smart (plus that shows too) and wants to be a surgeon. She definitely has it all going on and even only meeting her for a short time, I know she will do whatever she puts her mind to.
Her dress was spectacular, no?
The party (quite the event and so much fun) was at the Merchant Marine Academy in Great Neck right on the water. A great venue and a great night.
Mom and Dad were both so proud of their sweet girl and were beaming the whole evening.
And really, mom and daughter look more like sisters!
I went to high school with Bethanne’s aunt (that’s how the whole shoot occurred, so thank you L!) I’ll be doing a shoot for her family later this month.
The whole family was there to celebrate, and tons of friends helped keep the party going.
The candle lighting ceremony (ok, total memories of my bat-mitzvah during this part!) was lovely and everyone had a special part to play. Bethanne did a fantastic job on the introductions and backstory on everyone lighting a candle.
Bethanne, hope all your dreams and wishes come true. Happy Birthday!
Thank you D for asking me to capture your lovely daughter’s special day. I hope you enjoy the pictures and they are everything you hoped for. To view all of the images from this shoot, please click HERE.

the good family
Ok, I’m going to be perfectly honest here. I was feeling pretty sick on the day of this shoot and was heading up to Great Neck for the first of 3 seperate shoots in Great Neck over a 2 day period. All of which = not a great mood. Then, I saw three boys hop out of the car and thought I was going to get my butt kicked cause I would have to be running around after them all over the park feeling so crappy already. I was not looking forward to the whole thing which isn’t really like me.
But then…
The boys were SO good and cooperative and cute.
And the family’s coordinating outfits were so perfect.
And mom and dad were such nice people and fun.
And the nanny was kind and helpful with the smile procurement. And the location was so pretty. So before I realized it, I forgot that I was sick and was having a great time and getting some awesome shots.
Mom is originally from Russia. That’s one of those languages I could listen to all day without understanding a word and still enjoy it thoroughly. Their nanny who has been with them for about 3 years is also Russian so I got a good dose of conversation.
Thank you good family- I had a great time meeting all of you. You were wonderful and I hope you enjoy the pictures. To view all of the images from this shoot, please click HERE.

the nitk family
This is my second time shooting for this cute little family, and I can’t believe how big their baby has gotten since I last saw them at Christmas. She’s gone from falling over while sitting to walking around like crazy. She was definitely easier to photograph at Christmas, but you gotta love the walking stage too. So cute!
Went to the local village green and tried to find a little shade to shoot in. There wasn’t much, but we made do.
A little mommy & daddy love.
And a pretty little bonnett.
A few back at her house in her favorite chair.
Great to see you all again. To see all of the pictures from this session, please click HERE.

the turn @ parkside lounge nyc
On a Friday night my favorite band had a show at the Parkside Lounge in waaaaaay downtown NYC. I was more than happy to go along and take some pictures, dance a little, and try out my new lenses.
The Turn put on a fabulous, rockin show and everyone really loved it. There was lots of cheering and encore requests and two new songs that were awesome. Can’t wait to hear those again so I can start singing along next time.
If you’d like to check out some of their music, please visit them here: http://www.myspace.com/rocktheturn I would definitely suggest going, you won’t regret it.
Some of my favorites from the evening (it was only an hour show, but I took a zillion pictures).
Apparently, everyone in the band except Brian got the “wear black t-shirts with dark jeans” memo…
Pat’s “guitar face” on the left.
Finally got some decent shots of Chris doin his thing on the drums. He’s always squished in the back with bad lighting but this time the lighting was a little better.
Love some singing from Pat!
And no Turn shoot would be complete without my favorite picture of Brian during the screaming part of Sex on Fire. I think I’m gonna see how many of these shots I can get over time- I have an excellent start already!
Maybe my favorite angle…
You guys rocked it– hard!! Great show and I’m continually so proud of you! You just keep getting better and better!! Can’t wait for the next show….
